Okoma: one front door for a very wide business.

How a business spanning pests, bacteria, mould, viruses, HFMD-related protection and multiple environments found one idea the market could hold on to — without deleting any of its capability.

Described capability-first

Okoma’s range was, and remains, genuinely wide: protection against pests, bacteria, mould and viruses, including HFMD-related protection, applied across multiple environments. Described this way, the business reads as a list of services — accurate, but hard to hold in your head as one idea.

Sounding like a category, not a choice

In a category full of pest control, disinfection and hygiene providers, a wide capability list makes a business sound like a bigger version of its competitors rather than a distinct one. Breadth, described as breadth, does not differentiate — it just adds more to compare.

The truth underneath the service list

Underneath every one of Okoma’s services sits the same underlying customer job: someone responsible for other people — a parent, a facilities manager, an operator — trying to keep the people and environments in their care safe.

The chosen front door

“Helping protectors keep the people they care about safe.”

This is the front door: one sentence wide enough to be true of every service Okoma offers, and specific enough to be remembered and repeated by someone who isn’t Okoma.

What the front door organises

With “protector” as the front door, Okoma’s existing services stop reading as a list and start reading as evidence — each one a different way of keeping the people you’re responsible for safe. Nothing is removed from the business. The market is simply given one idea to walk through first.

What this case does, and doesn’t, claim

This case demonstrates the Front Door principle: that a Category of One can organise a genuinely wide set of capabilities around one memorable idea, without deleting any of them. That is a positioning claim, and it is verifiable by reading Okoma’s market-facing language directly.

In keeping with CO1’s evidence rules, this page does not claim revenue, conversion or pricing-power outcomes for Okoma. Verified commercial results, where they exist and can be confirmed, will be added here rather than implied.

What Okoma teaches about CO1

A Category of One is not the whole business. It is the door the market walks through to find the whole business — and a wide, capable company can still be remembered for one clear idea.
